UQ Library Video Competition Terms and Conditions
- The University of Queensland Library “the Library” invites currently enrolled University of Queensland students to create a short movie that promotes the Library and its services to students.
- Students may enter as individuals or as part of a team in which all members are currently enrolled University of Queensland students.
- The Library reserves the right to require proof of enrolment by sighting an entrant's current student card.
- Videos must be digitally formatted for Windows Media Player (wmp) and must be able to be uploaded to YouTube.com. Check YouTube.com Help for more information on creation, file types and uploading videos.
- All videos must include a screenshot of the UQ Library logo and Library contact information.
- Video submissions may be emailed to videocomp@library.uq.edu.au or submitted on compact disc to: Library Marketing, Outreach and Corporate Services, Level 6, Duhig Bldg, St Lucia, QLD, 4072.
- Individual submissions must be accompanied by a signed and completed Entry Form.
- Team submissions must be accompanied by a signed and completed Entry Form from each member of the team.
- Teams must have a Team Name and this must be included on each team member's Entry Form, along with the names of their other team members.
- Teams must nominate a Primary Contact Person to receive any communications from the Library in respect of the team submission.
- If a submission is emailed, it will not be considered until the relevant signed Entry Form(s) is/are received by Library Marketing, Outreach and Corporate Services.
- All video submissions and entry forms must be received by the closing date for entries. Late entries will not be considered.
- Entrants acknowledge that Library will be the sole judge of entries and absolutely no discussion or correspondence will be entered into.
- A winner, second and third prize will be selected – the 1st prize winner will win $750; the 2nd prize winner will win $500 and 3rd prize winner will win $250.
- In the case of a successful team entry, prize money will be divided by the Library into equal shares and given to each team member.
- No other prizes are offered and entrants are not otherwise entitled to any reward or compensation for preparing and submitting entries.
- Entrants warrant that their submission is entirely their own copyright and does not infringe the rights of any third-party.
- Entrants warrant that their submission does not breach any applicable laws and in particular warrant that it does not contain material which is defamatory, racially abusive, discriminatory, invasive of privacy, in breach of confidence or pornographic.
- Entrants warrant that their submission does not contain material which is sexually explicit, profane, violent, threatening, harassing, depicts illegal acts or is otherwise objectionable.
- Entrants grant to the Library a non-exclusive right to use, reproduce, publish and communicate their submission by any means and in any format for so long as it chooses for the purpose of promoting the Library and its services. This applies to all submissions and not merely the winning and runner-up submissions.
- Entrants agree not to assert any moral rights pursuant to the Copyright Act 1968 in respect of their video submission. In particular, entrants grant to the Library the right to edit any video submission in its absolute discretion and waive any right to inspect and/or approve the finished product.
- Entrants consent to the Library using their name, image or voice for promotional purposes. Entrants agree to make themselves available for photograph and interview in the event theirs is a winning entry.
- Entrants acknowledge that the Library has no responsibility for any liability, loss or injury, howsoever arising, which entrants may incur or suffer in carrying out any task or activity associated with or consequent upon preparation of their submission.
