New database: LexisNexis Practical Guidance

The Library has recently subscribed to LexisNexis Practical Guidance, a research tool that offers modules in a range of practice areas. Use this resource to discover practice-related checklists, legislation, case law and commentary. As the name suggests, this resource also offers practioner guidance throughout.

Online access - Register of Australian Mines

The online version of 'Register of Australian Mining' provides a comprehensive analysis of all mines, projects and prospects in Australia.

Inspec Database Adds 13 Millionth Record

The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) has announced that Inspec, its database indexing science and engineering research, has reached 13 million records. Inspec adds approximately 700,000 new records each year, indexing scientific literature in electrical engineering, electronics, physics and information technology from 1896.

Looking for property data for chemcial compounds?

Scifinder now includes predicted as well as experimental data, giving you access to a huge range of data and spectra.


To date there are 3.7 billion predicted values (for 56.2 million substances) and 4.5 million experimental values (for 3.0 million substances) in the database.


For spectra there are over 100 million predicted spectra and 1.1 million experimental spectra.

Chinese academic journals full-text database

The Library has access to Chinese Academic Journals as a trial until December 2012.

Chinese Academic Journals contains several subject-based Chinese journal collections. UQ has access to full-text articles in: Literature/History/Philosophy, Economics/Politics/Law, and, Education/Social Science. These broad subject areas are further broken down into more specific collections.
