Health Sciences: Research Checklist
The Health Science Libraries have just made live a new page called
Health Sciences: Research Checklist. This is with the aim to help support
the UQ research experience. The page contains a skills audit checklist,
information on Theses, Document Delivery, Referencing, Data Management, Metrics

Open Access
The
Scholarly Publishing and Digitisation Service contributes to research
excellence at UQ. In partnership with the Library's Research
Information Service, we provide advice and support in a range of areas
including citation metrics, scholarly publishing, open access, digitisation,
repositories and research data
management.
The Australian Federal Government Strategic Research
Priorities
The Strategic Research Priorities (SRPs) were announced by the Australian
Government on 21 June 2013. These priorities may have an impact on future
research grant applications and will come into affect on 1 July 2013. For
further information please visit their website.
"Promoting population health and wellbeing" has been identified as one of
five key areas of priority by the Prime Minister's Science, Engineering and
Innovation Council (PMSEIC).
Training for Semester 2, 2013
We are trialing two live online Endnote sessions (via Adobe Connect Virtual
Meeting Room) - they are on the 21 of August & 20 of November. These
sessions will suit distance education students, busy professionals who find it
hard to leave their office or staff who work part-time and might be having a

New Resource of interest in the Library
The library has recently purchased copies of "The research funding toolkit"
by Jacqueline Aldridge & Andrew M. Derrington. This might be of interest to
anyone looking at grant applications and funding of research.
New Librarian for the School of Population Health.
As of January 2013, a new librarian has been appointed to the School of
Population Health, Mr Scott Macintyre. Please feel free to contact him for any
research or library queries.
New Resource Trials
Faculty of 1000 is peer review service that comprehensively and
systematically highlights and evaluates journal articles published in the
biomedical sciences, based on the recommendations of a faculty of scientists
and clinicians.
It is on trial to University of Queensland staff and students until 31st
December 2012.
PsycTESTS provides descriptive summaries, full text, and citations on the
development and assessment of tests and measures that can be used in research
and teaching. It is a repository for the full text of psychological tests and
measures as well as a source of structured information about tests of relevance
to psychologists and professionals in related fields such as psychiatry,
management, business, education, social science, neuroscience, law, medicine,
and social work.
It is on trial to University of Queensland staff and students until 22nd
August 2012.
