A UK report published in June 2012 raises questions about research development, training and support within research institutions.

Researchers of Tomorrow Report is based on a longitudinal study into the information seeking behaviour of Generation Y doctoral students, commissioned by Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC) and the British Library.

Learn How To Find Resources From Your Reading List!

Can you recognise the type of resource by just looking at your reading list or a bibliography? This is an important skill as this then determines what search tool you use to find it in the Library. It also helps you construct your reference list for your assignments correctly. Learn how do all this in our Deciphering Your Reading List class, which is running next week. Come along to eZone 3 at 12pm on Thursday 8th of October - no need to book! We'd love to see you there.

Develop Excellent Research Skills

Over the next two weeks, Gatton Library is holding two sessions which will assist researchers develop excellent research skills. These skills are fundamental for a quality thesis.

Come along on Wednesday to find out how get the best from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) and Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics (ABARE).

Introduction to Research Skills

The Introduction to Research Skills training session will be held this Friday. Participants will be introduced to the range of specialist resources available. There will also be the opportunity undertake searches for topic specific information.

End of Week 3

It's the end of Week 3. You might not have had time to go to a Library class or look at the online information skills tutorials. You can still attend a class or simply go to a drop in session if you just have a couple of questions. They continue throughout the semester. The dates and times are listed on the Library's training page. Just look for your Faculty in the list.

"Getting Started" and "Finding Journal Articles" classes

Feeling a little lost about using the Library. During the next couple of weeks you can attend a face to face class in "Getting Started in the Library" and then go on to a class on "Finding Journal Articles for Your Assignments". The dates and times are advertised on the Library's training calendar.
