The Library's Legal Research Guide is a gateway to legal resources. It has pages dedicated to legal abbreviations, encyclopaedias and dictionaries, case citators, legislation, law reform resources, journal articles and legal referencing, plus many, many more.

Data Repository of the Week: TARDIS

tardis.jpgTARDIS is a multi-institutional collaboration that facilitates the archiving and sharing of data and metadata pertaining to crystallography. TARDIS offers a free data packaging tool for organising and annotating data, and for creating localised repositories.

To see grants of interest, under Criteria choose your Faculty and sort by Deadline (furthest deadline first). The calendar displays ongoing grants as well.

Head in the cloud

Most people are probably wedded to their favourite browsers - whether IE, Firefox, Opera or Safari. As an incentive to switch to Google's Chrome browser, Google have launched CloudSave, which allows users to save files from Google Docs, Amazon Cloud Drive, Dropbox, Facebook, Picasa, and many other programs and applications. CloudSave doesn't work with many browsers, so anyone wanting to take advantage of the technology will have to install Chrome.

Brave new world of research

What will research will be like in the coming decades? The British Library has mounted an exhibition on this topic at Growing Knowledge: The Evolution of Research. Interviews with researchers from a range of disciplines explore how research has changed. In Projects, visitors can see examples of collaborative digital projects that push the boundaries of research. The Tools area brings together online tools for writing, collaborating, staying organised, that make the research process much easier.

The British Library, as part of its Growing Knowledge: The evolution of research exhibition, has provided a list of available tools to help you research more effectively and expand your scholarly network.
