Your Library ... resources, services, spaces — you told us what you want!

During the three weeks, 9-28 August, the University of Queensland Library was asking you to tell us what you think about Library information provision, Library spaces, and Library services.

The 2008 survey led to many improvements in the Library. To mention a few ...

  • More space for quiet study in the Biological Sciences Library
  • Flexible furniture used to convert some group areas into quiet ones during exam time
  • Quiet zones across the campuses more clearly marked
  • Opening of the new PACE Library
  • Creation of the Hive area in the Social Sciences and Humanities Library
  • We have been working harder to make information more accessible by:
    • Improving your access to subject specialist help from your liaison librarian
    • Improving the Library website, including the introduction of Summon, our new unified discovery service + more homepage customisation features
    • Website navigation tips via posters and screen savers
  • More power-points for laptops
  • New Food Policy allowing some food / drink in the Library
  • Journal loans for undergraduate students and extended journal loans for all
  • Extended 24/7 access (Dorothy Hill Physical Sciences & Engineering; Gatton, Herston Libraries and a trial at the Biological Sciences Library)
  • Greater numbers of e-books purchased
  • Some Information Skills tutorials available online
  • New multi-function devices with scanning and colour printing

We really needed you to have your say again in 2010, to assist us in understanding your expectations and in future planning for the Library.

The survey was available online and is completely confidential. Thank you to all who took part.
