Journal Articles
For recent information, journal articles are often the best sources. Looking through individual journals in the hope of finding relevant material is time-consuming. It is better to use the databases to find articles on your topic.
Web of Knowledge - includes Web of Science, BIOSIS Previews, CAB Abstracts, MEDLINE and Zoological Record
Other databases for veterinary science
Peer-reviewed journals
To check whether a journal is 'peer reviewed', go to Ulrichs Periodicals Directory and do a search on the journal name. If the journal is peer reviewed, there will be a black and white referee's jersey next to the journal title. If you click on the title, there will be a field 'Refereed: Yes'.
