Journal Articles
For recent information, journal articles are often the best sources. Looking through individual journals in the hope of finding relevant material is time-consuming. It is better to use the databases to find articles on your topic.
JSTOR
This database provides the full text of articles from many major journals. Use
the Advanced Search and choose the Item Type
article. Under narrow by discipline, choose
Religion.
ATLA Religion
Database
This is the best database for more advanced research. It lists journal articles
and books.
Australasian Religion
Index Online
This is a small database that lists articles in Australian religious and
theological journals. Before connecting to the datbase, click on the
Password link to retrieve the username and password that you
will need.
Bibliography of Asian
Studies
This database lists books and journal articles in Western languages on all
aspects of Asian studies.
Index Islamicus
This database lists journal articles and books on Islam, the Middle East and
the Muslim world.
Specialised Resources
Twentieth Century
Religious Thought (online)
A searchable, full-text collection of books by major twentieth-century
Christian theologians.
Statistics
Australian Bureau of Statistics: Census
The census is conducted every five years and collects statistics on religiouis
affiliation in Australia, both at the national and local level.
Association of Religion Data
Archives
An online collection of data relating to religion in the United States and
worldwide.
