Journal Articles

For recent information, journal articles are often the best sources. Looking through individual journals in the hope of finding relevant material is time-consuming. It is better to use the databases to find articles on your topic.

MLA International Bibliography
This database lists journal articles and books on French language and literature.

Linguistics and Language Behavior Abstracts
This database lists journal articles and books on French linguistics.

Historical Abstracts
This database lists journal articles and books on French history from 1450 to the present.

Bibliographie der französischen Literaturwissenschaft=Bibliographie d'histoire littéraire française
This annual printed bibliography is the most thorough guide to new publications on French literature.

Worldwide Political Science Abstracts
This database lists journal articles on French politics and government.

Newspapers

Newspapers: 

Le Monde (on microfilm from 1944 onwards)

Some earlier French newspapers are available digitally on the Gallica website.

From the 1990s onwards, many French newspapers are available online via the Factiva database.
