For recent information, journal articles are often the best sources. Looking through individual journals in the hope of finding relevant material is time-consuming. It is better to use the databases to find articles on your topic.

  • IEEE Xplore digital library
    Provides full-text access to IEEE and IEE transactions, journals, magazines and conference proceedings published since 1988 and current IEEE Standards.

    Abstract and citation database of research literature and quality web sources.

Standards: 

Standards are official publications used in industry and trade to describe specifications and procedures. Standards provide rules and recommendations for: quality, safety, performance and construction, codes of practice, methods of testing, symbols and terminology. Use the following databases to locate standards:

    Full-text access to all current Australian standards; possibility to "unlock" international standards
  • IEEE xplore digital library
    Full-text access to IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers) standards
  • Annual book of ASTM standards
    Access standards in print from the American Society for Testing and Materials; use the ASTM International website (see below) as an index tool for the Annual book of standards
  • ASTM international standards worldwide
    This site provides information about ASTM and its membership and projects as well as indexing ASTM and other standards online
