Welcome to the UQ Library

The University of Queensland Library is one of Australia's largest academic libraries, with extensive collections and high quality learning spaces that support learning and research at The University of Queensland. We welcome visitors to our branches and anyone can use our on-site collections.

Our Collections

Anyone is welcome to visit any of our branches and use our on-site collections.

While there are some electronic resources accessible to any individual within the library, access to most electronic resources is restricted to currently enrolled UQ students and staff.

Public libraries, the State Library of Queensland, and the National Library of Australia may have electronic resources that you can access. You may also wish to review the free electronic resources available through the Internet Public Library, the Directory of Open Access Journals and the Directory of Open Access Books.

Using UQ Library

Membership and Borrowing

  • Community membership provides an opportunity for individuals who can visit the Library in person to borrow material from the collections.
  • Staff and eligible students from a university that is a member of the University Libraries Australia agreement may apply for reciprocal borrowing.
