- School students will then be free to use the library for the remainder of the day to pursue their research. This tour presupposes teacher-librarians and teachers having shown students at school, via the University Library website, how to use the university catalogue to produce a bibliography of resources pertaining to the topic being studied

- This introduction will take 45 minutes
- The tour will take 15 minutes (approx.)
- School students will then be free to use the library for the remainder of the day to pursue their research.

- Tours are open to Senior secondary school students
- The timing of the tour is to be mutually agreed upon between the school and The UQL Cyberschool
- Schools are to provide The UQL Cyberschool staff with the assignment topic at least two weeks in advance of the visit
- Schools are to ensure that students are aware that most seating in the library is for individuals and that certain areas of the library are for quiet study

- The UQL Cyberschool recommends that students wear ordinary clothes, not school uniforms, so that they blend more easily into the university environment.

The University of Queensland Library, through The UQL Cyberschool, offers senior students of secondary schools in Queensland tours of 7 branch libraries. While teachers are welcome to bring their classes to the University of Queensland Library to research assignments, the library would appreciate that these visits are notified by contacting Cyberschool staff. The Library recommends that teachers take advantage of the training in information literacy that the UQL Cyberschool provides for school students. UQL Cyberschool staff also provide this training for teachers and teacher-librarians.

Intensive training in Internet searching for teachers and teacher-librarians is offered through the UQL Cyberschool. UQL Cyberschool is able to tailor Internet training programs to your training needs. Courses and seminars are presented in a state-of-the-art training facility, with fast direct connections to the Internet. The training facility is located at the University of Queensland's St Lucia Campus in Brisbane. Each participant has access to a networked workstation for his or her sole use during the program. We are also available for on-site training, subject to the availability of computer software and facilities. Our training programs include:
This workshop is designed to extend traditional avenues of research by providing information on effectively using the Internet for locating teaching and. learning resources. Identification of and effective use of relevant subject gateways for locating specialist sites are introduced Through the use of hands-on and practical exercises, course participants will learn how to refine search strategies to maximise relevant results. Evaluating Net information for quality is also explored.
Internet seminars are shorter in duration than our standard courses. Seminars usually comprise a presentation followed by a supervised hands-on session for a nominated subject area, for example, comparison of ancient civilizations.
UQL Cyberschool staff can visit your school to conduct a session for staff on the use of the UQL Cyberschool website and the online database/s to which the school subscribes. This session is tailored to provide guidance on how to use these online materials in the curriculum.
