The UQL Cyberschool through its website http://www.library.uq.edu.au/schools, provides teachers and students in Queensland schools with access to quality electronic resources for effective teaching and learning.

    This gateway site provides access to appropriate and reliable electronic information through:

    • Negotiated discounted purchase prices for school access to e-journals and online databases.
    • Tours and guidance in the use of relevant information resources and an introduction to the University and its school programs.
    • School Student Borrowing The University of Queensland Library has extended book borrowing privileges to eligible secondary schools within reach of a UQ Library branch.
    • Free UQL Cyberschool Database of Internet sites for each of the key learning areas of the curriculum
      Internet sites relating to each of the key learning areas in the curriculum have been identified and selected.
    • The Virtual Reference Collection contains links to freely available government legislation, statistics, dictionaries and encyclopedias, atlases, information about educational institutions, and business and employment directories.
    • University of Queensland Schools programs and information about study at UQ.

    UQL Cyberschool expands the range of resources available to all high schools. Online databases provide easy access to electronic versions of newspapers, scholarly journals and magazines in all subject areas.

    Teacher librarians and teachers can view the list of databases available and are able to trial any database before deciding to subscribe. Apply to the UQL Cyberschool coordinators through your teacher librarian for trial passwords and access periods, for any of the databases listed.

    Staff respond promptly to questions, issues and problems encountered in the use of online electronic resources.

    The UQL Cyberschool staff regularly liaise with teachers and teacher librarians throughout Queensland to provide advice, assess needs, identify new educational directions, and obtain feedback on services and support required.

 
     

    Professional development and training sessions can be provided for specific groups of teachers, teacher-librarians, and students.

    Free update sessions address trends in information service delivery and challenges associated with information technology.
