Web of Science

Ranking by Schools or Institutes

You can use the Web of Science to search for the publications of a University, Institute or a School within a University. Limit the search results to the time period of interest and to the relevant publication types eg Article, Review, Proceedings Paper (choose several by holding down the contol key). If the result is less than 10,000 records you can then create and compare a Citation Report for each group of interest.

Example

Articles, reviews & conference papers 2002-2008 published by School of Pharmacy Cites/Paper H-index
Uni QLD 290 7.04 20
Uni SYD 447 8.09 25

When searching for an address – you need to consider the abbreviation used by the database and if there has been name change during the time period searched. To find out the abbreviation used for a school or institution – search for a known author who works there and then look at the Author Affiliation in the full record. A few institutions have two or more abbreviated names.
