COURSES/PROGRAMS

UQL Pathways is able to tailor Internet training programs to your training needs.
Our training programs include:

Navigating the Internet Duration: 3.5 hours
An introductory Internet course, combining instruction with hands-on practical exercises. This session investigates two main aspects of the Internet - its immense stores of networked information, and its use as a communications tool. The course covers what the Internet is and what it offers, basic navigation, Internet addresses, communication, and getting connected.

World Wide Web Duration: 3.5 hours
This training session concentrates on the World Wide Web, the fastest growing area on the Internet. The course investigates current WWW tools, such as search engines, subject pages, specialist directories and resource guides. Both general and subject-specific search tools, such as people finders and news search engines, will be covered.
Through the use of practical exercises, course participants will learn how to find specific information on the World Wide Web, and will also learn how to download images, text and software from Web sites. Techniques for refining search strategies to maximise results will be covered, as will some evaluation methods for assessing the materials found. Web publishing, electronic journals, copytright and keeping current will also be covered.

Resource Discovery Tours Duration: 4 hours
Resource Discovery Tours are subject-based training courses and can be designed to match your subject interests. Through a combination of lecture and hands-on exercises, these courses provide a comprehensive insight into Internet resources for a specific topic. We have developed a number of subject-based courses including courses on

  • agriculture
  • business and government
  • dentistry
  • health
  • law
  • local government
  • schools

Internet Seminars Duration: 1-2 hours
Internet seminars are shorter in duration than our standard courses. Seminars usually comprise a presentation followed by a supervised hands-on session for a specific subject area.
