The Rural Clinical School (RCS) Library provides resources and services to support the teaching, learning and research needs of staff and students in the UQ School of Medicine and the wider Faculty of Health Sciences in regional Queensland. Libraries are located at Bundaberg, Hervey Bay, Rockhampton and Toowoomba.

Bundaberg

The Rural Clinical School Library in Bundaberg is located in the Teaching and Learning Centre on the ground floor at the eastern end of the old nurses quarters at the Bundaberg Hospital.

The RCS Library and the Bundaberg Hospital Library are co-located and items may be borrowed from both collections.

Facilities

  • Returns - please place items on the designated returns trolley inside the main entrance
  • Computers - available in the Teaching and Learning Centre
  • Group study areas available
  • Group room - contact the Administration Officer on 07 4150 2205 for bookings
  • Network printing (black and white) - available from all computers
  • Video and DVD equipment - for bookings contact the Administration Officer. Otherwise usage is on an availability basis

Key disciplines are general medicine, genetics, anatomy, pathology, imaging, psychiatry, anaesthesia, orthopaedics, gynaecology, obstetrics, paediatrics, dermatology and pharmacology, medical law and rural health.

Hervey Bay

A collection of core print resources to support UQ medical students and teaching staff is located in the University of Southern Queensland (USQ) Library, located at 161 Old Maryborough Road, Pialba (on the USQ's Fraser Coast Campus).

Facilities

  • A book return chute is located near the entrance to the Library
  • UQ students use Eduroam for UQ wireless access on your own laptop
  • Computer Laboratory computers at the USQ Library are for use by USQ students only
  • Discussion tables and individual seating are available
  • For library and information assistance see USQ staff at their help desk
  • To borrow items, go to the help desk
  • There is no scanning, printing or photocopying access. However, the adjacent public library provides these services for a fee.

The UQ collection at the USQ Fraser Coast Library covers general medicine, genetics, anatomy, pathology, imaging, psychiatry, anaesthesia, orthopaedics, gynaecology, obstetrics, paediatrics, dermatology and pharmacology, medical law and rural health.

Rockhampton

The Rural Clinical School Library in Rockhampton is located in the Health Sciences Library, Demountable 3, Canning Street, Rockhampton.

  • During opening hours, books may be returned to the loans/information desk
  • An after hours return trolley is available for permanent students via the after hours study room (swipe card access required)
  • Seven networked computers are available in the study room
  • All computers are connected to a network printer
  • Data points for network access and powerpoints are available for connecting laptops
  • Eduroam for UQ wireless access is available throughout the building
  • Two group study tables are available in the centre
