      Alerting services help you keep up to date with:

        • industry developments in the news
        • articles published in recent journal issues
        • recently published books
        • developments in case law
        • legislative developments
        • government announcements

      There are serveral benefits in using alerting services:

        • Save time: find resources that fit your interests by selectively subscribing to alerts.
        • Read brief overviews of news: read the whole article only when it is of interest.
        • Keep up to date: stay abreast of recent developments in your areas of interest.
        • An outstanding grade: diligent students will be aware of the latest legal developments - A great way to impress your Lecturers!

      Registering to receive alerts means you will receive e-mail updates on a regular basis. In many cases you can select journals, jurisdictions, courts or subject areas relevant to your interests. Some web sites now offer RSS feeds as an alternative to email.

      Some web sites will need to be visited regularly instead because e-mail notification is unavailable.

      The following are either free or free to UQ staff and students through UQ Library subscription.

      Publisher alerts generally include the tables of contents of recent journals and in some cases links to the full text article. These are often e-mailed to you before the journal issue is published. Some publishers will also notify you of new materials published in your area of interest.

    Cambridge Journals Online
    Register to subscribe to email alerting services for journals published by Cambridge University Press. Then go to "Favourite Journals" to select the journals for which you would like to receive alerts.
    Hart Publishing
    Subscribe to receive updates on new legal materials published by Hart Publishing in your areas of interest.
    LexisNexis AU
    LexisNexis provides auto alerting of table of contents via e-mail for their journals, reports and bulletins. Just register your e-mail address and indicate which resources you would like to receive the table of contents for. The documents are sent in .pdf form.
    Oxford University Press
    Sign up to receive details of new Oxford University Press titles in your chosen area/s of interest by e-mail.
    Springerlink Alerts
    Sign up to receive the table of contents of journals published by Springer (formerly Kluwer) and notification of forthcoming books and journal issues.

    CCH Daily Email Alert
    Daily Email Alert is produced by CCH. It's a free daily briefing of the key developments in your chosen field, sent as headlines to your desktop, with links to the full story. Legislation updates, rulings from the Commissioner of Taxation and ASIC, and case information are included in the alerts.
    Daily Unreported Judgements Notifer
    The Daily Unreported Judgments Notifier is produced by LexisNexis Butterworths. Cases hot off the bench are emailed to you twice daily, each business day. You can subscribe to this service to be notified about the latest cases in all jurisdictions or the jurisdiction of your choice.
    Findlaw
    You can register to receive via e-mail for free, daily news pertaining to the legal industry, daily legislation alerts for Commonwealth, Victoria and New South Wales jurisdictions, cases from various courts and newsletters on Criminal Law, Family Law, Intellectual Property Law, Privacy Law, and Information and Technology Law.
    Legal Express
    Legal Express is produced by LexisNexis. It is a free legal news alert service that is emailed to you each business day, once you have subscribed. It contains a list of legal news headlines, short case notes, a concise list of all newly released legislative information and a "word of the day", extracted from the Butterworths Encyclopaedic Australian Legal Dictionary.
    WLR Daily
    WLR Daily is a service from the UK Incorporated Council of Law Reporting, providing free case summaries from ICLR (part of the Daily Law Notes Service) within 24 hours of the judgement.

    ComLaw
    This email notification service, delivered by the Attorney-General's Department, advises when Commonwealth legislation is newly added to or modified on this website.
    Queensland Legislation
    To receive free e-mail updates on any changes made to the Queensland Legislation web site.

    ACCC (Australian Competition and Consumer Commission)
    Visit this site regularly to access media releases and speech digests. The most recent appear at the top of the page. The archive is available from 1995. You may subscribe to have email alerts mailed to you, including details of news releases and speeches.
    ASIC (Australian Securities and Investments Commission)
    Keep up with what the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) is doing by subscribing to ASIC News, their short monthly newsletter. Each issue helps financial services industry operators and small business, with short pieces on enforcing and applying the law, mistakes to avoid and much more.
    Attorney-General of Australia
    Check regularly to view recent media releases, speeches and media interviews from Australia's Attorney-General. You can also subscribe to receive the Attorney-General's media email list on a regular basis.
    Australian Government
    Register to obtain free e-mail notification of new media releases made by any or all of the departments and agencies of the Federal Government of Australia. You can indicate which portfolios you would like to receive media release notification from, as well as refining the search to specific terms of interest.
    Australian Taxation Office
    By joining the ATO’s free e-mail update service you will be notified when information on the site is updated. This includes content new to the site or changes to existing content and the SuperUpdate Newsletter, a newsletter for superannuation providers. Please enter your email address, choose the categories and click submit. You will be sent and email asking you to confirm that you wish to subscribe.
    Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry
    Check back regularly to review the latest media releases, or subscribe to receive email notification for new issues of departmental publications.
    Department of Communications, Information Technology and the Arts
    Request to be notified by email when Senator the Hon Helen Coonan or Senator the Hon Rod Kemp submits a new press release or makes a speech.
    Department of Employment and Workplace Relations
    Request to be notified by email when the Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations, the Hon Joe Hockey, MP or the Minister for Workforce Participation, the Hon Dr Sharman Stone, MP produces a media release, speech or other resource. Or check back regularly for updates.
    Department of the Environment and Water Resources
    Either subscribe or check back regularly to read the latest news and announcements.
    Department of Families, Communities and Indigenous Affaris
    Visit the site regularly to review details about news and events or to read the latest media releases.
    Department of Finance and Administration
    Subscribe to receive notification about new press releases from the Ministers.
    Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade
    Check back regularly or sign up to receive RSS Feeds about media releases, speeches and transcripts from the Minister for Trade, the Hon Alexander Downer, MP.
    Department of Immigration and Citizenship
    Visit the "media centre" regularly for updated news releases, speeches, fact sheets and publications.
    Department of Industry, Tourism and Resources
    Departmental media releases can be searched or checked regularly.
    Federal Treasurer
    Subscribe to be notified by email when new media releases, speeches or transcripts become available from the Federal Treasurer.
    IP Australia
    IP Australia provides a number of subscription-based mailing lists to keep users up to date with recent events and changes at IP Australia. Choose from the options to receive updates on when new material is added to the web site, new trade mark hearings that have been published, or to receive SNIPER updates. SNIPER is a bibliographic database of journal articles, conference papers, and other documents about issues in intellectual property.
    Parliament of Australia
    Select RSS Feeds to subscribe to from the Senate, the House of Representatives and the Parliamentary Library.
    Queensland Government
    You can register to obtain free e-mail notification of new press releases made by ministers of the Queensland Government.
    Wagenet
    Register to receive free e-mail updates on new versions of Awards, Agreements or Decisions for all states and territories of Australia that are added to this website.
    You may need to search for the document name or print number prior to registering.

    beSpacific
    Subscribe to receive a free, daily email update from beSpacific, a blog that focuses on law and technology.
    Heresay

    The Law Report

    Publish a variety of online newsletters, which you can view.
    Corrs Chambers Westgarth
    A list of regularly published articles, updates and newsletters on a wide range of legal interests is available online and is fully searchable.
    Freehills
    Publishes articles on various areas of law, the most recent of which are available to view online.
    Minter Ellison
    Produces a number of Legal Insights which you can view online. You can also subscribe to receive new editions of these newsletters.

    This site from Fairfax provides updates on news from around Australia and the world.

    This site covers major Australian newspapers such as The Australian, The Courier-Mail, The Advertiser, Daily Telegraph, Herald Sun and The Mercury. To receive daily news headlines by e-mail each morning, subscribe to the service.

    Additions to the Collections
    Follow the Quick Link "Recent Additions to the Collections" from the Library catalogue page to find information on new titles added to the UQ Library collection. The lists are updated weekly.     What's New on the Internet
    This provides a listing, divided into categories, of some of the new sites and tools available on the Web. The page is compiled from various sources and is updated monthly. Each entry includes a short summary of the site and a link to access the site. Previous lists are also available.
