Administration Building (Building 13)
Completed in 1914, the Administration building is comprised of 2 storeys, the upper storey originally designed to provide accommodation for the matron and nursing staff.
It is Georgian in style, and was constructed in red brick, with an imposing front entry in sandstone and a cupola A dome-like structure on the roof of a building designed to admit light and air on the roof for ventilation.
Restoration of the building has seen the demolition of a fire escape which was added in the 1970’s to the southern side, spoiling the original symmetry of the building. The red brick work with white pointing, is synonymous of the buildings on the campus site, and this standard has been continued with the erection of new buildings.
The inside of the building is remarkably intact and has been converted to office space for the School of Tourism, the beautiful timber staircase and fireplaces being retained. It has extensive views to Mt Flinders from the top storey.
