A successful search can result in a single record display screen or in a results list screen.
A single record display screen will look like this:
Top section (Summary description and buttons to continue searching)
This section of the display shows the various buttons to click on to contine searching. These buttons will change depending on the screen you have reached.

|
|

Below the button bar are three (sometimes two, depending on the type of search done) boxes that show the search you did to reach this point. In the above example the search was a Title search using the word "sports" done in the Entire collection. These boxes also give you the opportunity to do another type of search (Author/Title/Subject/Keyword/Call Number/ISBN) and/or change the collection to search. Do this by clicking on the grey down arrow at the right of each box and selecting another search type or collection.
There is also a box with the words "System Sorted". This means that currently your results have been sorted by the system (usually alphabetically). If you wish to sort your results by earliest year or latest year first, click on the down arrow and select another option. Then click the Search button. The display will show all the journals first without any dates, and follow these by the earliest or latest dates as chosen.
Underneath this is a checkbox if you want to limit the display only to items that are available for loan.
Below this you can click on ← Previous record or Next record → to move through the list of results.
Under this, the title and publisher are always shown, while author, uniform title and edition are also shown if applicable.
It is possible to view other items on the same subject and other works by the same author, by clicking on each subject heading or author name ie. by clicking on any of the blue links in the record.
Middle section (Item display)
This section of the display provides information on:
- Which branch library holds the item; which collection within the library the item is in; and sometimes also the length of the loan period for the item (Location)
- Where on the shelves the item is located (Call number)
- Current availability of the item (Status).
Click on the item location, e.g. SS&H, for more information on that branch library and its services. Click on the call number for other records with the same or similar numbers.
Bottom section (More descriptive information)
This section of the display provides more descriptive information about the item, including a physical description and subject headings.
It is possible to view other items on the same subject and other works by the same author, by clicking on each subject heading or author name.
At the bottom of the screen you have the facility to rate the title by clicking on the number of stars you want to assign. If you need help on how to do this, click on Ratings help.
You can also click on Report errors in this record if you discover a spelling error etc. in the record. You should also click on Right click to copy record URL and then click on Copy link location or Copy shortcut and paste this URL into the email.
