This search engine does NOT search the Internet! It searches the contents of web pages on the Library's Web Site only.

How to use this search engine:

- Click the small down arrow to the right of the Match: box to select different search options.
- Selecting All means that each web page found must contain all the words you specify.
All narrows your search.
- Selecting Any means that each web page found must contain at least one of the words you specified.
Any broadens your search.
- Selecting Boolean Searching (and, or, not) means that you can join keywords using Boolean "operators" (the words, and, or, not)
- Typing training and internet will retrieve information about the Library's Internet Training Program.
A Boolean "and" is the same as choosing All.
- Typing training or internet will retrieve many more matches - some will be about the Library's Internet Training Program, but others will be about the Internet itself.
A Boolean "or" is the same as choosing Any.
Search Hints
- Don't search for really specific keywords on the Library's web site. A catalogue search or an Internet search will be better for this.
For example, you won't find anything about Claudius on the Library's web site, but searching for Ancient History will retrieve a useful FindIt that you can use to kick start your research in the Library and on the Internet. Similarly, a search for terpenoids will fail, but one for Organic Chemistry will produce lots of leads.
- Leave the Format: option set to Long. This gives you sufficient information to judge the relevance of search results.
