UQ Library sign in help for others

When will I need to login?

  • To use UQ Library computers.
  • To access secure online services e.g. checking/renewing loans.

What do I need?

  • UQ Library username, which is the 14 digit number underneath the barcode on your library card:

  • Library password as set-up by you when you registered. You must not tell anyone your password.

Logging-in to Library computers

When you sit down at a Library computer (except at Ipswich), you will be asked to enter your UQ username and password.

Based on your login, the following services will be available, depending on the configuration of the individual machine:

*re-authentication may be required.

Ipswich Library: Only UQ staff and students are able to log in to the computers in the Library at the Ipswich campus. Use the computers in the High Use area or those opposite the Student Centre. Note that these computers will not allow USB access, printing rights or access to MS-Office.

Problems logging-in

Contact your branch library.

Forgotten my password

  • Ask Library staff at any branch library to remove it from your record. Library staff cannot tell you what your password is as it is encrypted in our system to maintain your privacy.
  • Add a new password to your record immediately.

Change my password

Go to your record and click on "Change Library Password".

To maintain confidentiality, the Library strongly recommends that you do the following:

If you are using a Library computer and have accessed secure online services you should:

  • click on the browser's home icon to access the Library's home page.
  • click on the logout facility at the top right of the screen under the 'Search Library Website' box followed by the 'My Library' icon.
  • close down the browser.
  • double click on the Logoff Workstation icon on the desktop.

If you are using a Library computer and have NOT accessed secure online services you should:

  • close down the browser.
  • double click on the Logoff Workstation icon on the desktop.

If you are using a computer outside the Library, you should close down the web browser.

Accessing secure web services

Access to the following services may rquire authentication, whether you are using a Library computer or a computer elsewhere, such as at home or work:

  • Your record.
  • Placing holds on items via the catalogue.
  • Databases from home (UQ Alumni only).

Upon clicking on a link on the Library's website to one of the above services, you will be presented with the authentication page.

You will normally have to authenticate once only per web browser session to access the above services.
