Professor E.S. Edminston (1898-1982) Industrial Chemistry

In 1921 E.S. Edmiston was UQ’s first graduate of the degree course in applied science in industrial chemistry, which was first introduced in 1916, 30 years before any other Australian University. Professor Edmiston headed the course in applied science in industrial chemistry from 1936 to 1965, when he transferred to the newly formed Chemical Engineering Department. Formerly Royal Australian Chemical Institute president and three times acting Chemistry Professor, he retired from UQ at the end of 1966. |
