The City of Brisbane from Bowen Terrace
This view of the swollen Brisbane River also shows just the tops of the warehouse roofs above the floodwaters.
Also in the background is the steamer SS Gabo at Messrs Howard Smith and Sons wharf. The steamer, it was feared would drift into the wharves, but is seen still high above the goods sheds. She was apparently fastened in such a manner that she could not drift on to the sheds, and as the waters subsided she drifted into her proper place - the river.
