It is the one time of the year where Brisbane’s literary scene takes centre stage in multiple locations around the Cultural Centre at South Bank to share all things literary. Writers, publishers, booksellers, and audiences gather together to discuss the art of writing through chaired conversations, workshops, and master classes. Brisbane not only welcomes guests from near and far to share ideas and experiences behind the prose, but also showcases the talents of local writers and inspires those who strive to be.

So why is the Brisbane Writers Festival significant to Brisbane?

Like any other city, we have stories to share and a desire to express ourselves to the world.
Literature is a window to societies across the world. For entertainment, to speak of history, teach social values, or give life to dreams. Literature has many forms, many languages, and many opinions, yet it can unite audiences from all walks of life.
