Artefacts such as newspaper clippings, maps, and diaries can form a compelling narrative when strategically combined within the covers of a book. For readers, the thrill lies in carefully extracting the story, which is why this format easily lends itself to crime or mystery tales. However, books may also become artefacts themselves; the McSweeney’s journal (item 4) is just as much a collectible artefact as it is a collection of fiction.
