Photographs of Rabaul, its inhabitants and scenery. Also includes some photographs relating to the eruption of the Tavurvur and Vulcan volcanoes in 1937 near Rabaul.

Biographical note

George D. Hawkins was a clerk in the Bank of New South Wales and came to Rabaul about 1935-36. He left Rabaul soon after the eruptions in 1937, later settling in Port Macquarie, New South Wales.
