1915 | Volunteers with Red Cross
1919 | Sails to London

1920 | Admitted to Royal Academy of London Sculpture School
1921 | Wins Royal Academy’s Landseer Scholarship and Bronze Medal
1922 | Wins two Silver Medals
  Becomes engaged briefly to Queensland artist Lloyd Rees
1923 | Wins Gold Medal and Edward Stott Travelling Scholarship
1924 | Travels to Italy and France
  Mayo’s brother Dick dies

1925 | Returns to Brisbane
1926 | Sculpts Tattersall’s Club frieze, Brisbane, the first of many major commissions
  Elected life member of the Queenland Art Society
  Begins exhibiting with the Society of Artists, Sydney
1927 | Appointed Vice-President of the (now) Royal Queensland Art Society (until 1930)
1929 | Appointed Honorary Organising Secretary of the Queensland Art Fund
1930 | Sells A young Australian to the National Gallery of New South Wales, the first of many works to be acquired by an art museum
1931 | Becomes member of Queensland National Art Gallery’s Art Advisory Committee (until 1937)
1935 | Secures John Darnell Bequest and establishes Queensland’s first art reference library
1937 | Becomes foundation member of Australian Academy of Art, Canberra
1938 | Receives Society of Artists Medal
  Travels to Europe and North America

1940 | Establishes studio at 231 George Street Sydney
1941 | Exhibits with Society of Artists, Sydney (until 1958)
1942 | Becomes Queensland Vice-President of the Society of Artists (until 1953)
1944 | Becomes art adviser to the Australian War Memorial (until 1962)
1954 | Mayo’s father William dies
1959 | Receives MBE for services to Queensland Art
  Mayo’s mother Lila dies
1960 | Returns to Brisbane
  Becomes first woman trustee of Queensland Art Gallery (QAG)

1981 | Becomes last tenant to leave 231 George Street when building reclaimed by Sydney Cove Redevelopment Authority
