The National Library of Australia collects material of national significance and aims to make that material accessible to all while preserving it for future generations. Trove [NLA] |
Trove is a service provided by the National Library of Australia. You can discover material in libraries and archives across Australia with one simple search. John Oxley Library [SLQ] |
Established in 1934, the John Oxley Library is responsible for collecting, managing and providing access to material that documents Queensland’s history, development and cultural life. The Queensland State Archives, located at Runcorn on Brisbane’s southside, holds the state’s most significant collection of government records. The State Library of New South Wales, including the Mitchell Library, is the major reference and research library in NSW. The Noel Butlin Archives Centre, at the Australian National University in Canberra, has been collecting records of companies and organisations that represent Australian industry at a national and regional level since 1953. The AustLit website provides authoritative information on creative and critical works by and relating to Australian writers, relevant cultural organisations and industries. Australian Dictionary of Biography |
The Australian Dictionary of Biography (ADB) contains over 11,000 entries relating to individuals who have made a significant contribution to the Australian nation. The online version provides access to all of the entries available in the eighteen print volumes published since 1966. The dictionary is searchable and can also be browsed by name and occupation. Archive Digital Books Australasia |
The Archive CD Books Project [now Archive Digital Books] contains reproductions of old books, documents and maps. The Australian collection includes Directories, Government Gazettes, Police Gazettes, Local History, Family History, Church History, Cyclopedias and Gazetteers, with more material being added regularly. University staff and students can access material via the internet; links to individual titles and issues are provided in the catalogue records.
