3. Locating up-to-date information   Subject-specific journal articles

For recent information, journal articles are often the best sources. Looking through individual journals in the hope of finding relevant material is time-consuming. It is better to use the databases to find articles on your topic. Access to all databases is via the Library's Database Page.

Maternity and infant care Maternity and Infant Care is a resource from MIDIRS for academics and healthcare professionals involved in the care of women and infants. The database covers international English language journals, books, and grey literature relating to the midwifery profession, pregnancy, labour, birth, postnatal care, and neonatal care and the first year of an infants life.  
Health & Society Database Health & Society Database (H&S) is a subset of Australian Family & Society Abstracts (FAMILY), produced by the Australian Institute of Family Studies. Health policy and services and the social, psychological, legal and ethical issues associated with health are of direct importance to Australian people and families, and are a core subject area of the database.  
Family and society plus Family & Society Plus is an indexing and full text database that provides Internet access to the scanned images of articles from published and unpublished material on research, policy and practice issues about, or of relevance to, Australian families. Family & Society Plus is based on 'FAMILY', the Australian Family & Society Abstracts database, which is an indexing and abstracting database produced by the Australian Institute of Family Studies, and published by RMIT Publishing.
