Anzac Day 2015
With the 100th year of Anzac Day coming up, I was wondering if the library may put up information or provide a display commemorating Anzac Day where both Australian and New Zealand soldiers fought in 1915? It would be a good way to draw on the resources of the library and get people involved in this important event.

Hello and thank you for your comment.
We welcome ideas from library users for exhibits and displays and this is an excellent suggestion. The Fryer Library has prepared online exhibitions commemorating Anzac Day in the past, such as http://www.library.uq.edu.au/fryer/anzac/anzac.html and http://www.library.uq.edu.au/fryer/treasures/austin_pratt/pratt.html. It would be very appropriate to prepare an exhibition for this significant event. We will pursue your idea, and you are welcome to contact me to discuss this further if you wish. Thank you very much for your interest.

A further idea could be a focus on the Australian military units that are from Queensland, such as the 9th Battalion which was originally formed in Brisbane and is documented in books such as 'Campaigning with the fighting 9th (in and out of the line with the 9 bn A.I.F.) 1914-1919 / by C.M. Wrench.' which is available in the Fryer Library.
Also to note is these old battalions that fought in WWI still have their battle honours maintained through units in the Army Reserve such as 9RQR, 25/49RQR (both located in Brisbane) if you wanted to get these people involved in any commemorations/events the library/university considered being held
