After hour return place in Duhing building
I found that the after hour return place in the Duhing building has exising problem for returning the books.Since it is supposed to accept the books when the library is off, but i recently reurn the book and be informed that the book is missing and required to pay the replacement fee.
The most point that i want to list is that since people know the off hour sorting place can be used by students, at least the uni need to find a way to protect the student's right. Considering that when we return the books through there we can not immediately get the record to prove that we have already returned the book, and there also don't have any camera recording as well, it indeed can not protect our right.
Until now the book is still missing and i totally understand i need to pay the replacement fee because of lack of evidence. However, i eagerly to hope the library can point to fix this bug for the return system, and find a way to protect the student right in the not long futurn.
Thank you very much.

Thank you for your comments. I am sorry that your experiences with our external return chute has been less than favourable. As you have pointed out, it is important for the individual to be able to get a receipt for items returned. This is in part the reason why we have introduced the newer technology so that a receipt can be issued at the time of return.
Please reply to me at my email b.beach@library.uq.edu.au
I will look into the issue that you have with the missing item..
