Dear Library Staff,

The Dyson Airblade hand dryers on lvl 2 of the Biol Sci library are "fully sick" ie. awesome.

The old hand dryers in the SS&H library are "fully sick" ie. like a syphilitic cat breathing on your hands.

Can we please have some Airblades in the SS&H?

Stay classy!

Hello,

I think it would be good to get the following general text books on extractive metallurgy:

Handbook of Extractive Metallurgy, Volumes 1,2,3,4, edited by Fathi Habashi. Published 1997. ISBN 3-527-28792-2

Thanks,
James

The Fryer has "Magic Sam" 1, 2, 5 & 6 (PR8144 .M28). An Australian journal from the 1970s. I noticed that the missing issues (3 & 4) were available here: http://www.newcentury.net.au/cat_40/cat_40.pdf (item numbers 94 & 95).

Hey guys! I've found that the search bar at the top of the MyLibrary website is super powerful, and it's given me access to databases that I didn't know UQ even subscribed to!

My only peeve with it is a functionality one. When you click on Search, the search term opens up in a new window. I used tabbed browsing, and use each window to sort the topic of pages (eg, I'll have one window open with facebook, hotmail, youtube, etc in it, and then a second window with all the UQ and study pages i'm currently accessing), and so when the results open in a new window, it completely throws me off! I'm pretty sure it's a case of altering the code, but could it be done please? All internet browsers have a tabbed browsing function these days and it's very handy, and doing something simple like this would also be a great way to introduce not-so-internet-savvy types to it.

Thanks!

Hi,

Although I understand the necessity to provide dedicated disabled toilets, I find the situation genuinely sexist in regards to the provisioning of toilet facilities in the SS&H Library.

As you know, on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th levels, on the landing area either side of the lift doors are female toilets on one side and unisex disabled toilets on the other.

Why is it that there are dedicated facilities for women, but not men?

This creates a few problems.

As a bloke, it is not possible to leave my stuff on one of the desks on the upper levels while taking a quick trip to the toilet. This is because either a) you have to line up for a considerable length of time outside the disabled bathroom which can only be used by one person at a time (and often women), or b) walk a long distance to the only male bathroom at the far end of the bottom level. This means that I have to pack up my entire workload every time I need to use the toilet, which then means I have to vacate the desk - VERY frustrating in peak times.

At the very least, I believe that the dedicated bathroom on each floor should be alternated between men and women to create an equitable situation.

I look forward to your response on what I find to be a very inappropriate situation.

Dear someone,

Can an INTERNET LOGIN tab/icon please be added to the bar along the top of the library home page. This is important esp now that the email link to XXX@uqconnect.edu.au for email does not work.

Thanks

Dear all, I am currently working on my Master thesis and I enjoy the
postgraduate study space on level 5 in the Duhig building very much.
Unfortunately, some students using the lockers do not respect the quiet study
space area. They talk very loudly when they enter the area and the
conversation with their friends continues for the whole time while there are
putting their belongings in or taking them out of the lockers. This is very
distracting, especially because everyone else who is actually studying in the
postgraduate area is really quiet. I'm not sure what to do about this, but I
think maybe signs on the door at level 5 saying that students should respect
the quiet study area even if they are 'just' coming to their lockers might be
an idea. I would highly appreciate your help in this matter since this seems
to be general problem. Thank you very much! Best regards, Hanka

Hi,

Just letting you know that the first printer on the left hand side on the second floor does not print very clearly -tiny dots of ink smatter across every page, leaving a bit of a smudgy look.
It's just when I print out assignments that I will hand in, it looks quite untidy.

Thanks,
