I wasted my time in travelling to UQ to undertake some research in the SSH library today (Sunday 26 June). There was no prominent signage or notices advising that the library would be closed on this date or for that matter what would be the opening times during the period between semesters.

Clearly those responsible for the operation of libraries on campus are not paid to communicate effectively with students about library operations nor are they paid to think ahead or in real time for that matter.

They clearly need to lift their game substantially. I wait with baited breath for some improvement in this regard, but then I am probably asking too much.

i find the following book is very useful especially in sol-gel material field, unfortunately UQ library hasn't had this collection. Here are the details of the book:

Title:Sol Gel Materials: Chemistry and Applications

authors: John D. Wright and Nico A. J. M. Sommerdijk

publisher: Gordon and Breach, Amsterdam

year: 2001

the comment cited from the reviewer is : The book gives a concise and informative introduction to sol - gel materials for students, beginners in the field, and everyone interested in the subject (Angewandte Chemie International Edition 2002, Volume 41, Issue 1, 188)

I suggest if UQ library may purchase this book as one of their collection that will be useful for students and staffs to gain mire understanding in this material field. Thank you.

It is freezing in engineering and science library. I put on a heavy jacket, but still can get goose bumps.

When are we getting a new lift in the ss&h building? It's sooo slow, and call me lazy, but some days I really don't feel like dragging all those heavy books up and down up to four flights of steps. I'm sure others feel the same way.

I have found the new book returns device in the SS&H library an St Lucia to be very annoying and time consuming. I am unable to see any advantage whatsoever over the old returns slot. Not only is it unwieldy to use, it often goes out-of-order, and it appears to be a waste of resources.

Hello
I just wanted to submit some feedback with regard to the BSL. I am currently studying on level 3 and it is extremely unclean. There is no toilet paper in the female bathrooms and all of the bins are overflowing. I understand that it must be hard to arrange cleaning of a 24hr study space but if nothing else I think it is important to keep the bathrooms clean.
Thanks
