Please can you get in Prison Break series 3, 4 and the film into the multimedia library? I want to look at the progression of T.V to a film finale. Thanks

Hi Everyone -

I'm loving the 'My Library' website even more now - I know this is pedantic - but I'd love to see the 'My Favourites' field of the page towards the top of the 'My Library' homepage.

Thanks once again!

Hi,
I noticed today that a "search by call number" feature had been added to the machine in SS&H. That is really useful and a good improvement.
Thanks for that.

Hi,

Just to say that the new outside returns chute at the SSH is useless. I have tried to use it at least five times now and it has never once successfully let me return my books. It has however; spat my books back, given me someone else' book (I returned it to the loans desk), not printed a receipt, and on one occasion been totally non-responsive.
I'm sure it was very expensive, but next time could we have something less high tech and less likely to breakdown? Perhaps you could spend the money saved on new books.

Cheers

I have prevously been able to access an ebook, The Media and Cultural Production by Eric Louw, and it now says it my browsing time has expired and will not let me access the book. I have been told that this ebook should have unlimited views. I would greatly appreciate it if you could fix up this glitch as soon as possible and send me an email when it is done.

Thanks,

Is it possible to post some signage in the Duhig Postgrad Study area about eating in the library? Am really thankful that we are given this privilege of being able to consume some cold food, sandwiches etc in the library but when some students consume hot food (especially fried stuff) around the study area, it just stinks up the whole place and takes a long time for the smell to go away.

Couldn't find any signage available to inform the person that consuming hot food is not allowed in the library, just had to bear with the smell, unfortunately!

Thanks!

Dear UQ Library,

Since the restructure of the PSE library last summer, it has become increasingly difficult, frustrating and time-consuming for active researchers and research students to access new journals at the PSE Library. The library lists inaccurately the availability of new journal issues that are in turn un-available at the Library. In the library, there is further no single location where the researchers can browse the new periodicals. This is absurd and frustrating.

As an example, I searched today (6/4/11) for the latest issues of La Houille Blanche (TC1.H68) and Journal of Hydraulic Research (TC1.J63). The library catalogue website lists (today):
Latest received: 2011, No. 49, No. 1 (TC1. J63)
Latesr received: 2001 No. 1 (TC1. H68)

I went in person to get both issues at the PE Library. None are available nor accessible on the shelves, in display or near the High-use area. Where are they ???

I hope that the Library will address rapidly and efficiently the matter. A centralised ‘new periodical’ display (eg 1 week display) would be very efficient for most researchers. Alternately the library website must be re-structured to provide accurate information. In any case, the library has a duty to assist efficiently the university researchers and students.

I look forward for a rapid improvement of the situation.

I am disappointed in the lack of improvement in the new book lending machine. The new signs are a good start, but the machine still frequently breaks down. I am down using high use a lot and pretty much every day I observe a problem with it.

I saw this poor girl trying to get a book out - the general library catalogue said it was in the machine, but the machine was not recognising it as available. I just don't understand the point of having this machine (especially in the SS&H library) because it does not improve the lives of us students - in fact it makes it harder and more frustrating to borrow out a book.

Also, it is very annoying to fish out my ID card to get a book out of the machine when I just want to photocopy a page of it in the High Use section. It's slower trying to access it and it's much more of a hassle to get the book. I would prefer finding the book in High Use myself and just photocopy/or look at a few pages and then put it back on the shelf or on a trolley. Also, the staff in High Use are much more useful and helpful than a machine. It seems like these machines are more trouble than they are worth.
