Hi,

I am a staff and student at UQ. I have just spent 3 hrs searching and locating books that I need tonight for a group meeting. Much to my surprise I did not have my library card with me - which is both unusual and uncommon. The librarian then stated I could not loan my books, although I knew both my student number and saff number and have enough ID on me to apply for a passport.

I have then chatted to a librairan and they have rather unhelpfully told me AGAIN that it is 'policy'. I dont really understand the point of the policy, however I am sure you have your reasons ie machines are cheaper to run. What i dont understand is the strict following of this policy and the inflexibility of the staff. The library exist to resource students and staff not impede their learning process and waste there time. I now have to travel 3 hrs home and back to get a card because I need the books.

If you feel the need to stick so stringently to policy maybe you could create ANOTHER policy that allows for human slippage and error and allow students/staff to forget their card 2 or three times a year.

NOT HAPPY!!

Hi,
I was just wondering when the refurbishment of the Graduate Economics and Business Library is due for completion?

Thanks.

Hi there,

I am having problems with ChemGold. It keeps wanting to open .exe files on my computer. Problem is, I have a macbook so I can't access whatever files chemgold is trying to display.

I found the previous version much simpler and easier to use. This newer version is the same information now just more complicated.

I want to complain about the new book dispensing machines. When I used it, the book machine did not register my return of the book and consequently charged me overdue fees. It also did not register certain items as available even though the library catalogue listed them as available in the machine. Also, when the machine is out of paper, you cannot get a receipt so have no way of proving you have returned items.

why do we have to sign into internet if we just want to check our uq email? This should not be happening. Please fix it.

Hi,

We have on our records that we have returned the keys for the Law Library lockable desks late on 9th March 2011. It was due at 6pm but we've returned it 15 minutes before 6pm via the "chute" to drop off the keys at the front desk as there was no one around at that time.

We hope that our records can be rectified as we shouldn't be faulted for a delay in the librarian's signing out of the keys on the system. Thanks.

I applied for a postgraduate locker at SSH library.
If we don't receive an email by 10 March '11, that means I didn't get a locker?

I just wanted to say that the new individually taylored library website looks really interesting and I think it will be successful. I haven't had a huge look through it all yet but so far what I've seen, I've liked. I think it is a good idea for students to have all their info and relevant resources all displayed at once, and in particular I think it will help a lot of first years out.
The My Library link is a good idea, and I intend to use it in the course of my research.
