I don't know if you take suggestions for getting new books for the library, but I read reviews of a novel called "Better Than Chocolate" by Bruce Golden in Asimov's magazine and on the Science Fiction Revu website: http://www.sfrevu.com/php/Review-id.php?id=5821 It sounds like an interesting mix of science fiction and satire.

This is a really great service, however it is quite difficult to navigate around. I am struggling to access the subsequent pages of the multi-data base search results.. Also, it would be handy to have an option to use the old subject search that was originally there if we need. A multiple data base search is a fantastic concept, can't wait until I can get my head around it. Thank you! If it sounds like I am not u

Hi, I was advised that there was an error about the status of my study (Romote). That was corrected yesterday, but I still cannot get it. It has been difficult for me to cope since last year... I will be grateful for your assistance. Thanks

Wow, you guys are so world-class, you've even got books that won't be published until next year! [A glossary of literary terms / M. H. Abrams, Geoffrey Galt Harpham. Publisher Boston : Wadsworth Cengage Learning, c2009.]I'm impressed. How does that work? I always thought the "c" was for books of uncertain publication date. What does it mean, exactly?

This news article (http://www.courthousenews.com/2008/09/17/Reuters_Says_George_Mason_Unive... s_Handing_Out_Its_Proprietary_Software.htm) makes it obvious that UQ must cease its support for Endnote forthwith. Thomson Reuters is an evil bullying foreigh corporation, of an ethical standard not fit for Australian association.

Open Access & The Fryer Library Thank you UQ Library for the talks on Open Access and how they break down the barrier between people and researchers. However, it strikes me how in 2008 people cannot browse the shelves of the Fryer library.

I've asked a Fryer librarian why we can't browse books. Rarity and value were the answer, but surely is would be better to shelve the not so rare/valuable books like novels etc, rather than "browse the catalogue" as the librarian suggested.

It really is time for a zero-tolerance approach to mobile use in the library. At the moment your policies favour library-as-party/zoo-venue. UQ has security guards. Use them, please.

Agree with recent message asking you to enforce library rules re mobiles. In effect, by allowing mobile use (which you do, because you don't enforce the rules), you are banning those of us who need quiet from the library. At the moment, I have to study by the lake, under an umbrella when it rains, bcs library is too noisy.

Purchase suggestion: Micronations: Lonely Planet guide, or other works that document 'micronations'. An interesting area of research in terms of political science: concepts of sovereignty, nationalism. Provide an interesting and lighter look at challenging political legitimacy/attempting to seccede government power.
