Home » EndNote » Download References from UQ Library Catalogue

There are two ways in which you can download references from the University of Queensland Library Catalogue to your EndNote library:

    1. Search the Library catalogue via the web, download references and filter them into EndNote

This is a slower method, but it allows you to make use of all the search options offered by the web catalogue. The references will import with the call number, but without details of the branch library or collection where the item is shelved.

    2. Search the Library catalogue from EndNote using a connection file

This is a quicker method, but the search options are more limited. For example, you cannot limit your search by year of publication. The references will import with the call number and details of the shelving location.

    1. Search the Library catalogue via the web, download references and filter them into EndNote

This function is not currently available from the new catalogue interface (UQuicksearch). Instead, you should use the earlier interface, which you can access by clicking on More options and selecting the Keyword search.

From the list of search results, you can check the boxes to mark the references which you wish to download. Then click on Save marked records on page before moving on to the next page of records.

Or if you are viewing the full details of a reference, you can click on the Export button at the top of the screen to add the reference to your export list.

When you have finished searching, marking and saving records, click on View/Export Saved Records button.

This will open a new window. Under the heading Format Of List, check End-Note/RefWorks. Under the heading Send List To, check Local Disk.

The screen should look something like this:

      download records from UQL catalogue

Click on the Submit button. Save the file as a text document (*.txt).

Go to our EndNote filters page and download the filter for the University of Queensland Library Catalogue. There is information on that page about where to save the filter.

Go to EndNote and use the Import function to import your references using the filter.

    2. Search the Library catalogue from EndNote using a connection file

Go to our EndNote connection files page.

Download the connection file for the University of Queensland Library Catalogue. There is information on that page about where to save the connection file.

Go to EndNote and use the Online Search (or Connect) function to search the Library Catalogue using the connection file which you have just downloaded.
