Home » EndNote » Remove Field Codes from a Portion of a Document |
Before submitting a document for publication, you should always remove the EndNote field codes because they could interfere with the software used by the publisher. To do this, use the Convert Citations and Bibliography command on the EndNote tab in Word 2007 and select Convert to Plain Text. (In earlier versions, use the Remove Field Codes command.) However users sometimes find that this command causes formatting problems with their Word document. As an alternative, there is a way of removing the field codes selectively. This will leave the other field codes in your document, and should not affect the formatting. First, make a copy of your document. Work with this copy and leave the original untouched so that you can go back to it if you have any problems. In the copy, highlight a section that includes EndNote field codes (the bibliography, for example). Simultaneously hold down the Ctrl, Shift and F9 keys. This will remove the field codes from the selected text. If you click on that text, it should now look like normal text, to indicate that the field codes have been removed. |
