From all of the Library staff - Welcome

This set of modules will help you to make the best use of the range of services provided through our branch libraries and online via the Library web pages.

Each module contains basic instructions, tips on using the Library effectively, a range of learning activities and some quizzes and questions to reinforce what you have learned.
Look for the icons and the answer button:

Reading Activity Question Answer

Use the modules in a way that suits you best. As a beginner, you should work through an entire module from beginning to end. At a later date, you may like to revisit individual sections to refresh your memory as needed.

You will benefit most by working online. However, if you choose to print the modules, it is best to select 'landscape' as the preferred layout.

Your Workbook
As you work through the modules, you will find it helpful to write down your answers. All the exercises are included in this 4 page workbook (you will require Acrobat reader which can be downloaded here). If you wish, you can print this now to fill in as you go, or download each exercise later in Microsoft Word format to fill in electronically.

Learning outcomes:
Once you have completed the modules, you will be able to:

  • Develop a sound search strategy for locating information for your assignments.
  • Use the tools on the Library website effectively to find the information you need for your assignments.
  • Evaluate the information you have found so that you can readily distinguish quality information.
  • Reference your information using the referencing style specified by your lecturers.
