The Graduate Economics and Business Library is one of the 13 branch libraries of the University of Queensland Library. It provides resources and services to support the teaching, learning and research needs of staff and graduate students of the Schools of Business and Economics within the Faculty of Business, Economics and Law.
The Graduate Economics and Business Library is located on Level 2 of the Colin Clark Building, which is named after Dr Colin Clark. Colin Clark was honorary research consultant in the Department of Economics from 1979 to 1989 and is considered to be one of Australia's and the 20th century's most distinguished economists and statisticians. Entry to the Library is through Level 2, Colin Clark Building.
The building was opened in 1996 and the Graduate Economics and Business Library was refurbished in 2001. The design brief for the refurbishment focused on making the facilities easier to use and attractive, and providing a window on the world of knowledge designed around client access and use of real and virtual information resources. Space was allocated to create an eZone (training room) within the Graduate Economics and Business Library.
The Graduate Economics and Business Library supports the teaching and research of the following faculty:
The collection provides teaching, learning and research materials in a variety of formats for onsite access, use and loan. The collection includes:
- 9,500 books
- 12,000 journal volumes
- 80 current journal subscriptions
Links to electronic resources are provided via the Library's website. These include 49,860 eJournals, 373,384 eBooks, and over 1,161 databases. Access to the global body of information is available through the internet.
Assistance in the use of information resources focuses on the specific needs of its clients.
There are 32 public-access computers throughout the Graduate Economics and Business Library.These provide access to:

There are 2 computers providing access to IRESS (Integrated Real time Equity System) Australia's premier share market information system for UQ staff and postgraduate students.

The Graduate Economics and Business Library is located in Building number 39.
The main entrance to the Library is from Campbell Drive into Level 2 of the Colin Clark Building (Building 39).

Upon entering the Graduate Economics and Business Library you will find the Information and Loans Desk, the High Use area, which includes examination papers, Return chutes, Reference Collection, Statistics Collection, and Thesis Collection. The computers in the library provide access to the Library Website, databases, internet, word processing and email facilities.
Laptop ports providing network access are available.
Network printing is also available.
There is a courtesy telephone for dialling University of Queensland telephone numbers.
There is a display stand for Recently received Books and Journals, and access to the recent issues of the Australian Financial Review.
There are individual, group study spaces, and lockable desks.

- The Return chutes are situated in the wall at the left-hand end of the Information and Loans Desk.
High Use Materials
- These must be returned to the Graduate Economics and Business Library Return chute.
Outside the Library
- The 24 Hours Return chute is situated opposite the fountain on the walkway over the Social Sciences and Humanities Library.
After Hours
- You can use the After Hours Return chute on the left of the main entrance of the Graduate Economics and Business Library, on Level 2 of the Colin Clark Building.
The Graduate Economics and Business Library provides 32 computers for accessing the Library website, including the catalogue, databases and internet. Word processing is available on all workstations. Email facilities are available on all machines.
Six lockable desks are available for postgraduate students on a daily basis. Keys are available from the Information and Loans Desk.
Two Group Study Rooms are available for all students. Bookings may be made for these rooms up to one week in advance, using the Online Group Room Bookings System.
The Bookings page for the following week is released every day at 4pm. To facilitate equitable sharing of the rooms students may use the Group Study Rooms for a total of two sessions per week. One session is up to two hours. Group Room keys must be collected within 15 minutes of booking time, or the booking will lapse. Bookings may be made by entering your UQ username and password in the relevant day, room and time on the booking sheet. Students may alter their bookings themselves if necessary.
There are individual study areas available as well as quiet discussion areas for group study.
There are also two group study rooms and eight individual study rooms available for booking. Bookings can be made using the Facilities Booking System.
Over 9,500 books, 12,000 journal volumes, and 80 current journal subscriptions are held in the Graduate Economics and Business Library.
The strengths of the Graduate Economics and Business Library are in economic theory, economic history and conditions, management, transport and communications, commerce, finance and public finance, and statistics.

An historic collection of Annual Reports of the top 500 Australian public companies is held on microfiche for the years 1950 to 1993. Recent reports are available electronically, via Library databases.
The Library receives many publications issued by the Australian Bureau of Statistics. This material is not available for loan. Most items are available electronically, via the AusStats database. This service is available to staff and students of The University of Queensland.
The Library receives copies of honours and masters theses from the Schools of Business and Economics. They are listed in the Library Catalogue and are shelved together.
University of Queensland staff and students may suggest items to be added to the Library's collection.
Schools and Centres may also contact their Liaison Librarian, to make a suggestion for purchase.
New print material is displayed on the Recently received Books and Journals.
A list of new material is available on the Library website. For information on the latest issue of a journal, search the Library Catalogue.
The Library is wheelchair accessible via the entrance off Campbell Drive on Level 2 of the Colin Clark Building. It is also accessible from Blair Drive through Level 1 using the lift. There is a height adjustable desk available for use.
All email computers are accessible for clients with wheelchairs.

Books placed on hold or requested through document delivery can be collected from the Information and Loans Desk.
Lost property is held for one week at the Information and Loans Desk and then is given to Security.

The Graduate Economics and Business Library provides copying facilities and network printing .
All copying is subject to copyright restrictions.
There is an automatic card dispensing machine available where copy cards can be purchased and value added to photocopying cards and UQ student I.D. cards.
