Why can't I view my documents?

You may not be able to view your document for the following reasons:

  • a version of Adobe Acrobat Reader earlier than 7.0 is installed
  • pop-up blockers are turned on (enabled) in your browser or toolbar
  • Norton Internet Security is blocking the document
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader is checking for critical updates.
How can I get a copy of the latest Acrobat reader?
You can download the latest version of the Adobe Acrobat Reader from the Adobe website.
 
How can I turn off pop-up blockers in my browser or toolbar?
Follow the instructions below to check or change the setting for your particular browser. If you have a toolbar such as Google or Yahoo installed you may also need to change those settings.
 
Internet Explorer

In the browser click on Tools and select Pop-up Blocker then Pop-up Blocker Settings
Enter library.uq.edu.au in Address of Web site to add and click on Add

 
Netscape

In the browser click on Tools, select Popup Manager then About Pop-up Blocking
Click on Yes in response to the question Would you like to block popups and set preferences now?
Click on Allowed sites and enter library.uq.edu.au in Allow popups from following sites
Click on Add, click on OK

 
Firefox

Click on Tools, select Options and select Content
Untick Block pop-up windows

 
Google Toolbar

Click the Popup Blocker button on your Google toolbar.
When the button reads Popups okay, the popup blocker is disabled .

 
Yahoo Toolbar

If you hold the cursor over the Pop-up button on the Yahoo Toolbar icon, you can see if the Pop-up blocker is on or off in the tooltip that appears. If it is on, click on the button to ensure that the Enable pop-up blocker option is unticked.

 
MSN Search Toolbar

Click the Pop-up blocker button on the MSN Search Toolbar.
When the button label reads Allowed, the pop-up blocker is turned off.

 
How can I disable Norton Internet Security?
Right click on the Norton icon in the taskbar and choose disable (or exit) to turn off the security.
 
How can I disable automatic updates for Acrobat Reader?

In Acrobat Reader click on Edit, select Preferences then Updates
Click on Do not automatically check for critical updates.
