The number of Americans using social networking sites has nearly doubled since 2008, and the user demographic is older - it's not just a young person's game any more. Pew Research Center's Internet & American Life Project has now published Social networking sites and our lives which looks at how people's trust, personal relationships, and civic and political involvement are connected to their use of social networking sites and other technologies. Surprising finds: Facebook users have more social support, revive more 'dormant' relationships and are more politically engaged than non-users.
