Recent work by the Bureau of Meteorology and the CSIRO has outlined the extent of climate change in Australia. A policy response to climate change issues, especially reductions in greenhouse gas emissions, may be required.The Parliamentary Library has produced a Background Note, Emissions Control: your policy choices. It discusses instruments that may be deployed to address greenhouse gas emissions, looks at taxes, permits and subsidies, and draws some general conclusions.
