Feedback on Trial of Quiet & Noisy Spaces in SS& H Library

Blogs > Social Sciences and Humanities Library Blog

As the first semester draws to a close we would like comments on how you feel the trial of making designated floors in SS& H "quiet" and "noisy" is going. Do you have any suggestions for improvements?

Comments

I think the trial is working well.

I think the trial has been working well. If only we could get the students of their mobiles at the desks.

It will be interesting to see how the trial works in SSAH - could have implications for our Law refurbishment.

It would be good to get the service support staff to comment and also survey the students use of it as well.

My impression is that the zoning is working well. When I visit the "quiet" floors, they are mostly full of people working quietly! This seems a genuine improvement on last year's conditions.

I agree that the trial has been a success and hope it will continue. I have had some comments from students using the "Quiet Space" and also hope it contines. They feel they can work very well without the constant noise of groups or mobiles etc. They also have mentioned they are not copping as much abuse as before when they constantly asked other students to be quiet or considerate of others etc

It is very clear to students where they can and can't use their mobiles. I think its been working well.

I think it is working very well. However there are still mobile phones being used om level 3 an 4

I think the use of yellow and green colours to distinguish the different uses for the spaces is a great idea.

The zoning of quiet and noisy areas does seem to be working, it is a workable idea and the process of adminstration has been so far successful, more comment from service support staff would be helpful for a final analysis of success.
