Commencing around April 2013 the NIH will begin to hold processing of non-competing continuation awards if publications arising from grant awards are not in compliance with the public access policy. Once publications are in compliance, awards will go forward. Funded organizations will be given at least five months to prepare for the new process, and can use this time to make sure that publications comply with the policy.
