Public Knowledge Press (PKP) has announced the first round of external testing of the Open Monograph Press (OMP), and is very interested in user feedback.

OMP is a new open source publishing product under development by PKP. It will establish an online workspace for publishing monographs, edited volumes and scholarly editions, and will also keep an archival record of the process.

OMP plan to set up a Social Networking Incubator and Workspace system, which will provide authors an editors with a series of tools and spaces that will allow collaboration, engagement and responses across research projects and the public.

On Friday, May 4, the OMP package will be made available to install on your own server. Documentation will also be provided, and a link to the bug tracking system will be established to make reporting any problems easy. The external testing round will last until May 18.
