Open Government Data - is the UK leading the way?
The results of an official audit by The National Audit
Office suggest that the UK is leading the way in open government data. The
report,
Implementing Transparency, praises the amount of data released by
the UK Government, and verifies that the government completed many of the key
milestones it set out to achieve at the onset of the project.
However, it also discloses information about costly and careless disposal of tonnes of data. As a key driving force within the Open Government Partnership, the conflicting assessment is problematic. What do you think?
Read more about this report in the Guardian's Datablog, where you can also view and download data about the timeline and milestones of the UK Government Open Data project.
