Protests against the US Research Works Act are escalating. You can sign a petition to register your opposition. The petition will be delivered to the US House of Representatives.

Though American signatories will obviously carry more weight, a display of worldwide opposition to the bill cannot hurt.

According to author Robin Peek, the legislation is "designed to thwart activities such as the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Public Access Policy, which requires scientists to submit final peer-reviewed journal manuscripts that arise from NIH funds to the digital archive PubMed Central upon acceptance for publication."
