We probably all know the periodic table of the elements. The display format lends itself to other uses - hence this periodic table of visualisation elements.

Each element in the table has a mouseover that gives an example of what it is.

Elements are grouped into six visualisation types:

• data
• information
• concept
• strategy
• metaphor
• compound.

For each element, there is an overview or detail, while some elements have both. Elements are also calssified into ones that promote convergent thinking and those that promote divergent thinking.

The chart is a clever way to roll up a whole lot of useful information in one diagram.
