The Digital Curation Centre has produced a guide to assist researchers to create links between their academic publications and the underlying datasets, so that anyone viewing the publication will be able to locate the data that underpins it. Or, if they locate the data first, they can find their way to the publications that came out of the research.

The guide, Cite Datasets and Link to Publications, explains the issues and challenges involved.
